What to Expect
You'll lie comfortably on a mat or in a chair, eyes closed, while the facilitator plays instruments around and sometimes on your body — typically singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, or drums. The sound washes over and through you. No musical experience is needed; your only role is to receive. Sessions may move through multiple instruments and intensities before settling into silence.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What does it actually feel like?
- Most people describe it as deeply relaxing, sometimes dream-like. You may feel vibrations physically, notice emotional shifts, or simply drift into deep rest.
- Is sound healing safe if I'm sensitive to loud noise?
- Communicate this to your facilitator. Sound journeys can be adapted. Gong baths in particular can be intense — some practitioners offer gentler bowl-only sessions.
- Can I fall asleep?
- Yes, and it's welcome. Sleep or deep rest during a session is considered a sign of deep letting go.
