What is Rebirthing?
A breathing technique helping release suppressed emotions and traumas.
Benefits
- Releases suppressed emotional material and birth-related imprints
- Increases vitality, aliveness, and breath capacity
- Supports healing from shame, fear, and the trauma of suppression
- Cultivates a direct experience of the breath as nourishment and life force
- Can shift deep patterns over a series of sessions
What to Expect
Rebirthing uses connected breathing — a continuous circular breath with no pause between inhale and exhale. Sessions are one-to-one with a trained rebirther. You lie comfortably and breathe in this pattern for 1–2 hours. Physical sensations (tingling, tetany) and emotional releases are normal and are supported by the practitioner. Integration time follows.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is tetany and is it dangerous?
- Tetany (muscle cramping or rigidity) can occur during intense breathwork due to CO2 changes. It is uncomfortable but not dangerous and resolves quickly when breathing normalises.
- How many sessions are typical?
- Leonard Orr, the founder of rebirthing, suggested 10 sessions as a foundational process. Ongoing sessions support continued release and integration.
